my-wedding-dressLike every bride-to-be, the dress is a pretty important part of the wedding. It should be something you’ll look back on in years to come and still be happy with you’re choice. By the way how¬†gorgeous¬†is my mamma, she was in her early twenties when she got married and looks just as amazing now as she did then!
I didn’t have any trouble finding my dresses (yes there were two!) The first one was found in San Fransisco with my gorgeous mother in law Rosemary, we only went to look at shoes and came back with a short BCBG Max Azria dress for the wedding. We even managed to hide it from Ben for the next two week and Rosemary took it back to NZ for safe keeping!

My second dress and what I ended up wearing to the ceremony was again found on a whim, while designing our wedding invites we thought about putting me in a huge wedding dress and have that as the invite. So we pulled Mum’s wedding dress out from underneath the house and when I tried it on Lucy gushed, Mum got a little teary - so from that lovely moment on I had two dresses, one for the ceremony and one for the party!
It was such an honour to wear my beautiful Mum’s wedding dress, its a little different from when she wore it. At 14 I cut the sleeves off without telling her!
There is something really special about keeping a dress alive, I was also lucky enough to wear my Great Great Great Grandma’s Cameo and my Grandma’s watch and blue ring. My gorgeous shoes where chosen by Ben while we were in New York, they’re Kathryn Amberleigh and are amazing to wear!

If you’re getting married, think about you’re Mum’s dress. It might need a little altering, but its something so special and if it works then its perfect!
