They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
Lest We Forget.
Preheat oven to 160ºC and line two baking trays with baking paper. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, oats, sugar and coconut and mix until combined. In a small saucepan, gently melt the golden syrup, butter and vanilla essence until melted and smooth. Add the bicarbonate of soda and quickly stir until well combined and smooth. Add syrup mixture to the dry ingredients and mix well until combined.
Roll golf ball sizes of dough on to a baking tray and gently press - bake for 10-12 min or until the edges start to brown. Allow to cool slightly on the tray before transferring to a wire rack to cool, or of course enjoy while still warm.
